JACK

A sculptural seat created for Hastings Borough Council, set on a woodland path overlooking the town. At 11metres long, Jack depicts a locally celebrated European folkloric figure 'Jack in the Green' whose giant effigy is dismembered each May. The five timber sections of Jack can be seen to be growing back together as he rests. The carving and hue of the Monterey Pine timber mimics a weathered outcrop of local sandstone.
